Counselling & Psychotherapy Forum Guidelines

avatar image

CounsellingResource.com provides open discussion and support forums for exchanging ideas and experiences from any area of counselling or psychotherapy. Please note the forum is no longer accepting new member registrations.

Counselling & Psychotherapy Forum Contents

The counselling and psychotherapy discussion and support forums include sections for general discussion, as well as dedicated sections for depression and bipolar disorder, relationship issues, dissociative identity disorder, creative contributions, counselling and psychotherapy training and careers, and more.

Please note that posting to the forums or participating in polls requires you to have already registered a username on the site; new registrations are no longer being accepted.

Finally, please note that the discussion forums are very much a community effort, and the Managing Editor claims no special role in the discussions themselves.

Discussion & Support Forum Guidelines

The CounsellingResource.com forums operate under simple guidelines to which visitors are asked to agree before using the facility:

  1. Visitors are asked to respect other users of the counselling and psychotherapy forums and to maintain at least the level of politeness they would expect in ordinary verbal conversations.
  2. Visitors acknowledge that CounsellingResource.com is not responsible for any content posted to discussion forums by visitors. Visitors are asked not to post any copyrighted material except short excerpts, appropriately referenced, or that material on which they themselves hold copyright.
  3. Visitors agree that they may be contacted by email in connection with the operation of the forums. (While registering or at any time thereafter, you may set your profile to prevent other users from seeing your email address; please see the FAQ available on the forum pages.)
  4. Visitors recognize that the counselling and psychotherapy forums may be read all across the internet, and thus no degree of 'therapeutic safety' should be expected. CounsellingResource.com forums are intended for the exchange of ideas and experiences and for community support but are not intended as a platform for group therapy. If you are a researcher or a member of the press, please read the Research Policy.
  5. Visitors acknowledge that participation in the discussion forum is strictly voluntary and that individual posts may or may not receive in-depth replies, discussion, or other feedback by other members of the community.
  6. Please do not advertise commercial services or advocate on behalf of professional bodies or partisan governmental organisations. Employers are encouraged to post job openings in the careers section, however, and universities and dedicated educational institutions are encouraged to post course details in the training section. (Universities and educational institutions will be identified by domain address, such as '.edu', '.ac.uk', '.edu.au', etc. Private consultancies offering training and other related organizations are not included in the category at this time.)
  7. Visitors accept that the CounsellingResource.com Managing Editor is the final adjudicator in all disputes regarding the management of the forums and the acceptability of visitors' behaviour. Visitors may be asked to leave the forums in the event of conflict with the letter or spirit of this agreement -- including but not limited to instances of profanity, abuse, incitement to violence or hatred, or violation of 'fair use' provisions of copyright law.

If you click 'I Agree', you will be taken directly to the counselling and psychotherapy discussion forums. If you click 'I Disagree', you will be returned to the CounsellingResource.com front page.
